5/09/06 - Gigs in May

Be sure not to miss your chance to catch Crazy Ivan this month - Downtown Cincy, Columbia, or Bridgetown, there's no reason to miss out on CI this May!

5/03/06 - CrazyIvanBand.com Returns to the Interweb!

I may never know exactly how much you missed crazyivanband.com while we were in hibernation. But we missed you, and it's good to be back. Now, the band itself didn't go anywhere - just a little personnel rotation. Be sure to say hello to the newest addition to the Crazy Ivan family, Aaron Cordell. Holla', holla'!

And when will be the best opportunity to meet this highly qualified drumsmasher, and all your old twenty-something favorites? Answer: Jammin' On 2.0! Jammin' On is a festival of local bands at a number of local venues, and it's all going down next weekend (May 12th and 13th. We'll be kicking things right off at Cooper's on Main on Friday 5/12 at 10:00pm sharp. This isn't the Ivan you're used to - we'll only have 45 minutes to kick as much ass as we usually kick in an entire night. But that's alright, because we've been training for the last half year to do just that. The time has come; best not to miss it, eh?

To cap things off, here are some useful links that you may find relevant and informative. Oh, and thanks for coming back to us. Expect more from your Crazy Ivan.

Cooper's on Main - Just one of the many spots to find Jammin' On next weekend. Here's their website. (click here)

CrazyIvanMusic - Here's a little something we cooked up on MySpace.com. (Check out the recordings...taste of things to come.) (click here)

9/26/05 - Fall Break, Field Trip, Full-Length Album

The next several weeks, Crazy Ivan will be rerouting power from performing to producing - the final pieces of the album process are coming together, and it will only be another month before it's Album Release Party time! And when that time comes, you'll be the first or second to know. Speaking of which, I want to offer those among you who follow CrazyIvanBand.com an opportunity to save a few hard earned bucks. Just send an email to Album@crazyivanband.com, and whether you're coming to the release party (where everyone gets an album) or you want a copy sent to you, you'll save $2 off the $10 newstand price. Deal? Deal.

In other news, September's Allyn's Café gig was a big success, again, due in large part to you the viewing audience, and all can look forward to a lot more Ivan live and in person in the coming months. In the meantime, we'll keep ourselves busy with album production, and the occasional band field trip to Columbus to see Mars Volta/ System of a Down. And who says we're uncultured?

9/09/05 - September Allyn's Gig Confirmed

Crazy Ivan will be playing Allyn's Café next friday, September 16th. Music will start around 10:00pm and go until at least 1:00am. The cover will (most likely) be 2 dollars American, and all ages are welcome. We have nothing but overwhelming appreciation for our loyal fans, but if you've never seen Crazy Ivan live and in person before, this is the place to do it. I can't stress it enough - great food and an ecclectic international beer selection make for a great Friday night, with just a pinch of Ivan. Also, look for the opportunity to save a few bucks and pre-order a copy of Crazy Ivan's newest album! In the next few days, you'll find a link on our home page to email us for a CD, and we'll make sure you're notified the moment we have it completed (mid-October). Current projections put our CD release party around that time, but if you pre-order, we'll make sure you get a personal invitation!

8/30/05 - Imprompü Line Change

This past Saturday's Cooper's performance went surprisingly well in the face of a last minute booking snafu. The Naked Redheads ended up taking the first set, (Dan Mecher graciously stepped aside to accomodate the rapidly growing number of acts booked to play that night). The music lasted well into the night as Crazy Ivan finished the evening with an all-original set, including some of our newest stuff. Fun was had by all - thanks to all those who made it out. We look forward to seeing you out again next month. We currently have several gigs hovering over our September calendar, just waiting for the right weekend to strike - stay tuned (I mean it this time!) for updates on all things Ivan.

8/25/05 - CI teams up with Dan Mecher at Cooper's on Main

This Saturday will see Crazy Ivan team up with Dan Mecher of the Turnbull AC's at Cooper's on Main. This will be our debut performance on the mainstage at Cooper's, and it is shaping up to be one of our biggest performances yet. We've been fortunate enough to connect with Dan through the Allyn's Tuesday night singer/songwriter pipeline, but the only place for us to pass that fortune on to you is at Cooper's this Saturday, August 27th. The music begins at 10:30pm, with Crazy Ivan joining the fray around midnight. Bring your friends and your dancing shoes (and your friends' dancing shoes) to Cooper's on Main this Saturday, and we'll bring the Ivan. (Also, be sure to check out http://www.coopersonmain.com and http://www.theturnbullacs.com if you're looking for directions to Cooper's or more great original music!)

8/08/05 - Crazy Ivan is now on MySpace.com

We have expanded our presence on the web this week with the creation of CrazyIvanMusic, through MySpace.com. MySpace provides us with opportunities to post video and audio clips, distribute our forthcoming album, and maintain a tighter relationship with the Cincinnati local music network. Now in the process of familiarizing ourselves with the possibilities, the long-standing and wholly unrealized dream of having a Crazy Ivan guestbook may come to fruition through the CImusic page - more to come on that. As for this site, let's just say the webdesigner is back from an extended summer vacation, and we've all been working hard to prepare for the coming months. Stay tuned for more information, and please do check out our myspace account at http://www.myspace.com/crazyivanmusic/.

7/15/05 - It is Time, Once Again

This Saturday night, Crazy Ivan will be performing at Allyn's Café. Did I say performing? I really meant rocking your socks off! We take the stage around 10:00pm, playing until at least 1:00. Make sure to check out their website (linked to the logo) for maps and directions on how to get to Columbia-Tusculum. We'll be there waiting for you...

I also think I should lay out a quick apology to all of our loyal www.crazyivanband.com viewers. I know you folks keep an eye on us for updates, which have been a bit behind lately. Worry not - with great things comes our album - plans are already in the works for a new webdesign to match the album design. Stay tuned, and we'll keep bringing it to you like only Ivan knows how. - David

6/23/05 - From Recording to Mixing - New Album Reaches Half-way Point

Early Sunday morning, after seven days and over 40 hours of studio time, Crazy Ivan completed recording for our new upcoming album. It includes eleven Ivan originals, featuring nine never before recorded tracks, and is set for release in late summer. Over the course of two weekend sessions, WVXU on Xavier's campus became our home away from home, with Jon Brennan (our sound engineer) commanding state-of-the-art equipment to lay down just the sounds we were looking for. Only several weeks of mixing and mastering lie between us and our CD release party (location and date to be determined). We've picked out the marble and hired our sculptor - now watch the chisels fly! - David

5/27/05 - The Crazy Days of Summer

As the month of May draws to a close and Cincinnati prepares for summer, Ivan prepares for the long hours of recording lying in wait for the weekends of June. We have two back-to-back shows coming up in the second weekend of June - keep an eye right here for more updates. Plans are in the making for several improvments to the website, including a GuestBook, an email list, and a new design for our home & news pages. I'd also like to thank all of our loyal Ivanites for making the Neon's show a success - suffice it to say that we can only rock as much as you do... and you ROCK! - David

5/21/05 - Last Minute Venue Change!!!

Tonight's Crazy Ivan show with The Green Room has been moved from The Sugar Lounge to upstairs at Neon's, 208 E. 12th Street. We'll be playing at about 11:00 after The Green Room. If you need directions, call Neon's at 513-721-2919. See you there... - Mike

5/19/05 - Crazy Ivan @ the Sugar Lounge this Saturday, May 21

This Saturday Crazy Ivan will be perfroming at the Sugar Lounge, which is located below Cooper's (formerly Moose on Main) at 14th and Main St. We'll be playing from 10:00 to 11:30 or so, and we'll be performing most of the songs that are projected to be on the new studio album to be recorded in June. So get out and support Crazy Ivan and local music in Cincinnati! In other news, we've been working our asses off getting ready to record the new album with engineer John Brennan of WVXU and WGUC. Our goal is to have the cd in stores by the end of the summer, so keep your eyes open for that. That's all for now...keep on rockin'. - Mike

4/22/05 - Crazy Ivan @ Allyn's Café... and soon, your CD player!

This Friday, 4/29/05, at Allyn's Cafè, Crazy Ivan will be rocking Columbia-Tusculum with a full night of music. Taking the stage at around 10:00pm, we'll be bringing all of your Ivan favorites until the wee hours of the morning (1:00am). After an extended break from gigging to refocus our efforts and prepare for our upcoming recording sessions (for our NEW ALBUM!), we are honed and toned for a fun night of original music, great food, and friendly atmosphere. Allyn's, as I'm sure you know by now, is the place to be this and every Friday! (Also, keep an eye out for updates on the progress of our newest album in development, which we will be recording in early June 2005 at WVXU.) Thanks - see you Friday?

3/14/05 - Laugh 'til you Rock

After a short respit following a three week stretch of gigging, Crazy Ivan is excited to bring you a night of comedy and music this Wednesday, March 16th, at York St. Cafè. We will be following the local improv troupe, Wit's End Comedy. The comedians of WE will take the stage at 8:36pm and improv their way to about 10:30. After a short break for set up, it's all Ivan from there, and we're coming armed to the teeth with original music for you and your twenty closest friends. The door cover is only $5.00, and all ages 18+ are welcome. It's a night you won't want to miss, so get out, drive over, come in, sit down, drink up, and laugh out loud this Wednesday! (Check out these websites for more information - Wit's End Comedy and York St. Online)

2/8/05 - Gallery II images completed.

2/4/05 - We Three Gigs

Wednesday found Crazy Ivan at York St. Café once more - this time in the company of John Horan and The Naked Redheads. Despite murky weather conditions (which always seem to follow us to York St.), a positive turnout led to the most electrified Ivan set to date. Keep an eye on the calendar page (or www.Cincymusic.com) for information on our upcoming shows. Next week, we'll be paired up for the first time with WorldWide at the BarrelHouse Brewing Co., and the following week brings us back to Allyn's Café for a Friday night set with Steven Gregory.

Thank you for all of your helpful and encouraging feedback - I've added a second gallery to the Images page, and am currently doing research into the design of a guestbook and/or email list. Until that function is up and running, if you would like to join the Crazy Ivan emailing list, send an email to david@crazyivanband.com and I'll add you. Especially if you live in the Cincinnati area, this can be your personal invitation to come out and see us do our ivan thing. Stay in tune, and we'll see you next Friday!

1/21/05 - Winter Storm Advisory indeed!

Last night, York St. Café proved to be the warm and cozy way to fend off the frosty weather. Thanks to the fine folks over at York St., to Alex, Matt, and Jason of Headband, and all the people that made it out to the show despite inclement conditions. Check back with us in 12 days (Wednesday, February 2nd), because we'll be taking the stage again, this time with The Naked Redheads. If there ever were to be a Crazy Ivan show to miss, this definitely won't be it. Stay tuned for more information. Oh yeah, and a quick site note - About the Band page updated.

1/20/05 - Music page added. Contact Ivan link modified.

1/1/05 - Happy New Year!

Many thanks to Steven Gregory, Allyn's Cafe, and our loyal fans for making the New Years Eve Jam such a great success! We're hitting the ground running this year, with several shows right around the corner. Keep an eye on the calendar page (or the Crazy Ivan account on www.CincyMusic.com) for all the information on our upcoming gigs.

I'd like to send out special thanks to you and everyone who has helped to make this website possible. Putting this site together has been a learning process for me, and it's a genuine thrill to see the increased traffic. As you can see from the dead links in the navigation bar, we're always looking for new media and design ideas for crazyivanband.com. On that note, if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments about the site, please let us know by sending a quick email to david@crazyivanband.com. Thanks, and welcome to 2005!

Saturday, November 27th, Crazy Ivan will be joining a number of different local artists at the historic Southgate House to benefit the Prison Reform Advocacy Center. There is a $10 suggested cover, $5 minimum, to get in to see two stages and eight different bands. We will be performing on the Ballroom stage promptly at 9:00. A new band will take the stage each hour on the hour (on the half-hour for the parlour stage), offering you a big juicy slice of Cincinnati local music while supporting an important nonpartisan nonprofit organization.
